Before the year ended, I decided to go on a road trip to end with ‘End of the Year Trip.’ I always try to start and end the year with a new destination. For this 3 day weekend road trip, our three destinations were Alabama Hills, Death Valley, and the Valley of Fire State Park. Within these places we visited several different spots which I definitely recommend.

Antes de que terminara el año, decidí hacer un viaje para terminar con el “Viaje de fin de año”. Siempre trato de comenzar y terminar el año con un nuevo destino. Para este viaje de fin de semana de 3 días, nuestros tres destinos fueron Alabama Hills, Death Valley y el parque estatal Valley of Fire. Dentro de estos lugares visitamos varios lugares diferentes que definitivamente recomiendo.
Movie Road
Our first stop was movie road where many famous movies where filmed such as Star Trek V, Gladiator, Iron Man just to name a few.. So we got there around 6:30am so we could have time to take some pictures before cars started passing our way. It was definitely a beautiful background with snowy mountains which made a great contrast of colors between the mountains.

Nuestra primera parada fue en el camino de la película, donde se filmaron muchas películas famosas como Star Trek V, Gladiator, Iron Man, por nombrar algunas … Así que llegamos a eso de las 6:30 a.m. para tener tiempo de tomar algunas fotos antes de que los autos comenzaran a pasar. Definitivamente era un hermoso fondo con montañas nevadas que hacían un gran contraste de colores entre las montañas.
Mobius Arch Loop Trailhead
To get to the Mobius Arch, you will have to walk about 10 minutes from the main road into a trail. The arch is an amazing formation, you just have to be careful getting up on the rocks. Since it is up in a hill, just watch your step. There are such nice views from the arch and the surroundings. Go and check it out!

Para llegar al Arco Mobius, tendrás que caminar unos 10 minutos desde la carretera principal hacia un sendero. El arco es una formación increíble, solo debes tener cuidado al subir a las rocas. Como está arriba en una colina, solo mira tus pasos. Hay unas vistas tan bonitas desde el arco y los alrededores. ¡Ve y visitalo!
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
Being at the Mesquite Flat Dunes reminded of Morocco when I was visiting the desert. Here at Mesquite, we had a take a 10 minute walk to get to the highest point on one of the sand dunes. It was definitely an exercise for me since I am used to the climbing a stair master and not having to sink into sand. By the time I got to the top, I was definitely exhausted but worth climbing, ‘What gym?!’ like I would normally say. (Leg Day DONE! lol ). Definitely had to be careful walking across at the top because one wrong step I would be rolling down the dune. There were people scattered all around but in particular there were these kids who were playing Star Wars and we could clearly hear what they were saying even though they were far away.The sounds bounce off the sand dune so whenever they talk we could hear everything, which was quite entertaining for the rest of us. Next time maybe taking some sleds could be a fun idea! Go and check it out for

Estar en las dunas planas de Mesquite me recordó a Marruecos cuando estaba visitando el desierto. Aquí en Mesquite, tuvimos una caminata de 10 minutos para llegar al punto más alto en una de las dunas de arena. Definitivamente fue un ejercicio para mí, ya que estoy acostumbrada a subir la escalera eléctrica y no tener que hundirme en la arena. Cuando llegué a la cima, definitivamente estaba exhausto pero valía la pena escalar, “¡¿Qué gimnasio ?!”, como diría normalmente. (Día de la pierna HECHO! Jajaja). Definitivamente tenía que tener cuidado al cruzar la cima porque un paso equivocado estaría rodando por la duna. Había gente dispersa por todas partes, pero en particular estaban estos niños que jugaban a Star Wars y podíamos escuchar claramente lo que decían a pesar de que estaban muy lejos. Los sonidos rebotan en la duna de arena, así que cada vez que hablan podemos escuchar todo. lo cual fue bastante entretenido para el resto de nosotros. ¡La próxima vez tal vez llevar algunos trineos podría ser una idea divertida! ¡Ve y compruébalo por ti mismo!
Badwater Basin
Badwater basin is located in Inyo County and is the lowest point in the United States, 279 ft below sea level. The reason why it’s called Badwater basin is because this water comes from the spring which you cannot drink because it has salt from the basin. Formations occur when the water evaporates and the mud dries up, breaks and forms a polygonal pattern so all that is left is the salt. This time it looked like it rained and caused the formations to dissolve, which made it great for some reflection shots! Once I popped open my umbrella, all the visitors turned my way and started taking pictures. I was definitely not expecting that but it was quite funny to me. A few of them actually came up to us and started talking. Probably just making sure I wasn’t bothered by them with taking my picture. Nice to also know that other like your idea and appreciate it!

La cuenca Badwater se encuentra en el condado de Inyo y es el punto más bajo de los Estados Unidos, a 279 pies bajo el nivel del mar. La razón por la que se llama cuenca Badwater es porque esta agua proviene del manantial que no puedes beber porque tiene sal de la cuenca. Las formaciones ocurren cuando el agua se evapora y el lodo se seca, se rompe y forma un patrón poligonal, por lo que todo lo que queda es la sal. Esta vez parecía que llovía y causó que las formaciones se disolvieran, ¡lo que lo hizo ideal para algunas tomas de reflexión! Una vez que abrí mi paraguas, todos los visitantes se voltearon y comenzaron a tomar fotos. Definitivamente no esperaba eso, pero fue bastante divertido para mí. Algunos de ellos se nos acercaron y comenzaron a hablar. Probablemente solo asegurándome de que no me molestara tomarme una foto. ¡Es bueno saber también que a otros les gusta tu idea y lo aprecian!
Artist’s Palette
The Artist’s Palette is such an interesting place, it seems like chalk powder of pastel colors was dropped on the mountains. The reason for these colors is over time metals have oxidized and turn into different colors. Just one of many of nature’s way to add some colors to our black mountains. Definitely a place worth stopping by when visiting Death Valley.

La paleta del artista es un lugar tan interesante, parece que el polvo de tiza de colores pastel se dejó caer en las montañas. La razón de estos colores es que con el tiempo los metales se han oxidado y se han convertido en diferentes colores. Solo una de las muchas formas en que la naturaleza agrega algunos colores a nuestras montañas negras. Definitivamente un lugar que vale la pena visitar cuando visite Death Valley.
Fire Wave
Another place you have to walk from the main road is the Fire Wave. The fire wave is located about 1.5 miles round trip. The walk is pretty simple and has some amazing views. Going on that trail made me feel disconnected and really appreciate nature’s beauty. Once we arrived there was no one and it just looked phenomenal. It is so amazing how these sandstones are formed and how the waves are so perfect. You should come by and take a look for yourself, you will not regret it!

Otro lugar por el que tiene que caminar desde la carretera principal es la Ola de Fuego. La ola de fuego se encuentra a aproximadamente 1,5 millas de ida y vuelta. El paseo es bastante simple y tiene unas vistas increíbles. Seguir ese camino me hizo sentir desconectada y realmente aprecio la belleza de la naturaleza. Una vez que llegamos no había nadie y parecía fenomenal. Es increíble cómo se forman estas areniscas y cómo las olas son tan perfectas. Deberías venir y ver por ti mismo, ¡no te arrepentirás!
Zabrinsky Point
Zabriskie Point is a viewpoint overlooking the badlands of Badwater Basin. These views are so amazing, we made it just in time before it got too dark. I began walking up to the viewpoint and I glanced to my left and I saw these amazing badlands. I got off the trail and said to myself, ‘WOW! I need to get closer.’ So I continued to go down the big hills and it was just breathtaking. As you can see there is no one around me, it was just me and nature’s creation. I love steering away from everyone and looking for new paths and better views.

Zabriskie Point es un punto de vista con vistas a las tierras baldías de Badwater Basin. Estas vistas son tan increíbles que lo hicimos justo a tiempo antes de que oscureciera demasiado. Comencé a caminar hacia el mirador y miré a mi izquierda y vi estas increíbles tierras baldías. Salí del camino y me dije a mí misma: ¡GUAU! Necesito acercarme “. Así que seguí bajando las grandes colinas y fue simplemente impresionante. Como pueden ver, no hay nadie a mi alrededor, solo fuimos yo y la creación de la naturaleza. Me encanta alejarme de todos y buscar nuevos caminos y mejores vistas.
Valley of Fire
Fire of Valley State Park is nature preservation in Overton, Nevada filled with massive red sandstone formations. These amazing sandstone are called Aztec sandstones which have formed over millions of years from shifting sand dunes. I think this particular part of the park is so incredible because you can see the amazing winding road. Definitely safety first, so watch out as the cars come your way if you will be taking shoots on the road.

Fire of Valley State Park es la preservación de la naturaleza en Overton, Nevada, llena de enormes formaciones de arenisca roja. Estas increíbles areniscas se llaman areniscas aztecas que se han formado durante millones de años a partir de dunas de arena cambiantes. Creo que esta parte particular del parque es tan increíble porque puedes ver la increíble carretera sinuosa. Definitivamente, la seguridad es lo primero, así que ten cuidado cuando los autos se acerquen si vas a tomar fotos en la carretera.
Wow!!! This trip looks so breathtaking! Que chistoso! Mi esposo y yo estábamos casi por ir a la misma destinación los mismos días jejej! Wow ? se nos cancelo el viaje pero ahora seguro quiero ir? gracias por compartir tu experiencia bella?
